How To Make Your Lips Plumper

For many women, their lips are a source of disappointment. With all of the ads in magazines and on TV using models that have full, sexy lips — those of us with thin lips feel that we have somehow got shortchanged. Not anymore!

Easy Tips for Fuller Lips

Here are some simple tips & tricks to make your lips appear fuller with cosmetics. Check out our tips below to fool the eye and you’ll soon have lips that look luscious, plump and kissable.

Keep Your Lips Conditioned

Prevent dry, cracked lips with lip balm. Use lip balm with SPF when you are out in the daylight hours and before you go to bed at night to keep them in tip-top shape.

Prepare Your Base

For best results, start by applying foundation on your lips when you are putting on your make up. Set it with translucent loose or pressed powder. This will make a good base.

Make Your Lips Larger

Outline your lips with a lip liner that is closest to the color of your lips. Use the liner just beyond your lip line, increasing the size a little. Add some balance, shape and curves to the upper and lower lip if desired.

Fill Them In

Fill in your lips with a metallic lipstick  using a brush, including the area you extended with the lip liner.

Use Lip Gloss

Add a finishing touch with lip gloss. The gloss will add depth and give the appearance of plumper, fatter lips. Take it along in your purse for quick touch-ups.

Extra Kissable Lips

For a poufy pout, apply a glob of petroleum jelly onto lips and gently rub in with a soft toothbrush. Follow up with lip balm.

Four Tips to Celebrate New Skin

Monday, August 24th, 2009

Here are some beauty tips to consider for the upcoming months:

1. As your tan fades with the summer sun, you’ll want to consider a new shade of foundation.

Many women find they need one shade for summer & one for winter.

2. The cooler air will rob your skin of moisture.

So invest in a great moisturizer BEFORE the cold weather hits.

3. In the summer, it’s great to treat yourself to pedicures.

In the winter, save money by doing them yourself.

4. Some trends come & go, but wavy hair is here to stay. (At least for another season).

If you haven’t perfected the look yet, you should, because it’s not going away anytime soon. Afraid your hair can’t keep curl? No worries. Even the straightest hair has some natural curl in it yourself & instead invest in a monthly facial. Don’t want the cost? Do it.

Signs of Aging

When (and how) to start treating the signs of aging

I have a patient that asked me the following question. I thought I would share this with you…..

I have heard that it is important to start treating the signs of aging early, even going as far as to start using Botox on would-be problem areas in your twenties. Are there certain products/less extreme treatments I should be focusing on regularly now that will be beneficial later?

The most critical time period of skincare for the rest of your life takes place in your twenties, when your most important job is to prevent future damage. As you grow older, your job becomes twofold: Continue to prevent future damage and try to undo already existing damage. Botox and LED Light Therapy would fall into the “undo damage” category, so as a woman of your age you do not need to turn to these treatments quite yet. Now, you should concentrate on earning your skin future, especially the skin around the eyes, by taking precautions against the sun 365 days a year, no excuses. Nearly everything that you will ultimately not like about your face comes from the sun—crow’s feet, wrinkles, enlarged pores, red capillaries around the nose and cheeks, dark discolorations, freckles, age spots, lines, wrinkles, and loss of tone. If you start using a broad spectrum UVA/UVB day cream around your eyes and all over the face, every morning of every day of the year—summer, winter, even if it rains—in your twenties, you can literally delay the onset of crow’s feet by more than a decade.

The other important goal of skincare at this age is to keep the oil glands in check to prevent breakouts. To this end, one of the most important things you can do is exfoliate properly to prevent sebaceous acid accumulation and clogged pores.

Summer

Summer

Beat the Heat Summer Beauty Summer’s not over yet — and it’s hotter than ever now. Keep cool and stay gorgeous with these tips:

Tackle Shine
Replace your rich cleanser and face cream with a foaming gel and an oil-free daily lotion that has a minimum SPF 15. Carry a compact for midday touch-ups but don’t cover your entire face with powder.

Summer Hair Repair: Limp Locks
Pump volume into straight or fine hair by adding a weekly clarifying shampoo and skipping conditioner (or applying it only to your ends). Also, take a break from the blow-dryer to let your hair air-dry. Many people with fine, straight hair actually have a slight wave that adds body.

ummer Hair Repair: Curls Gone Wild
Thirsty strands absorb water from the air, so keep your hair hydrated. Avoid overcleansing. Shampooing just once a week is enough. (On other days, condition only.) Always apply your frizz-controlling products while hair is still damp.

Summer Hair Repair: Deep-Fried
Damage to the hair’s cuticle from straightening your strands with a dryer or flatiron will leave you with a halo of fuzz. The fix? Boost moisture with a leave-in conditioner daily plus a deep-treatment mask once a week. Then, before you break out the hot tools, apply anti-frizz serum to protect the cuticle against both heat damage and outdoor humidity.

Summer Scents
Swap your regular perfume for a fresh body splash and spritz away. Also, with sweat glands working overtime, your regular antiperspirant may not be enough. Upgrade to one of the newer clinical-strength formulas, which have higher levels of aluminum salts for extra protection.
