How old do I have to be to get implants?
As long as you are in good, healthy condition, you may be as young as 17 to receive implants.
How do I know what size would be best for me?
Implants comes in different shapes and sizes. The best way to find out which one would like best on you is if you come in to our office for a free consultation. We have samples that you can try on so you could see how they would actually look like. That will be the best way to determine what size would most appropriate for you.
Will there be any scarring?
This is a very simple procedure. After 5 days, the suture will be removed, and the scar will eventually fade. We do carry products that will help speed up the healing process which we highly recommend as well.
What is the recovery process like?
It has been said that the first couple of days is the hardest to deal with because that’s when the anesthesia is already worn out. It is highly recommended that patients try to move their arms in circular motions to promote blood flow and a speedy recovery. You will be required to wear a breast belt for a couple weeks to help the implants settle. Other than that, patients often return to work and regular activities in just a few days. However, it is recommended to wait at least two weeks to return to regular exercising activities.
How long does the procedure take?
On average, the procedure would take about 1.5 hours.
Will it hurt?
Dr. Vu will carefully inject the proper anesthetic to ensure that you are comfortable during the procedure. Proper medication will also be provided to assure that you are relaxed during the procedure as well.
Will I ever have to get them replaced?
According to studies, silicone implants lasts on average for about 16 years. As for saline, they do not need to be replaced. However, if an accident ever should occur (rupture/deflation), then it would be necessary to replace them. It is highly recommended that you purchase the lifetime warranty that is available once you decide to get implants. That should cover the implant(s) and some replacement costs for your procedure.
