FRAXEL TREATMENTS
Fraxel Laser Treatment is a revolutionary way to reverse the signs of aging! Think of your skin as digital photograph in need of high-quality restoration or touch up.
Just as a damaged painting is delicately restored one small area at a time, or a photographic image is altered, pixel by pixel, Fraxel Laser Treatment improves your appearance by affecting only a fraction of your skin at a time with thousands of tiny microscopic laser spots.

What is Fraxel™ Laser Treatment (FLT) and what does it do?
The Fraxel laser treatment reverses the signs of aging, with no-down-time. Fraxel smoothes wrinkles and erases scar, brown spots, and Fraxel stimulates the production of collagen for smoother, healthier looking skin with minimal down time. Fraxel improves skin tone, color and elasticity. Fraxel can treat any area of the body like the face, chest, neck, hands and arms, even legs! Best of all, results can be seen immediately!
How is it different than other anti-aging treatments and how does it work?
Fraxel is unlike any other rejuvenating skin treatment. Unlike old ablative lasers that remove the top layer of skin, Fraxel produces tiny microscopic wounds separated by areas of unaffected, healthy tissue. The spared healthy tissue between treatment zones contains living cells that promote rapid healing of the outer skin layers. At the same time, Fraxel energy penetrates deep into the dermis to remodel collagen. Fraxel results smoother, firmer and more youthful skin.
How long does a Fraxel treatment take and what will I look like after Fraxel treatment? When will I see results from Fraxel?
Fraxel treatments takes 20-30 minutes. Fraxel side-effects are minimal and typically involve mild swelling and redness which usually subsides within several days. Skin may also appear tanned for a week or two after Fraxel. Then the skin will flake and exfoliate normally after Fraxel. Routine activities can be resumed immediately after Fraxel treatment. Many patients return to work the next day after Fraxel. Make-up can be worn the next day after Fraxel if desired. Fraxel results may be seen as early as one week, although additional improvement through collagen remodeling will continue for several months!
How many Fraxel treatments are needed and how often can I be treated with Fraxel?
Although Fraxel results may be seen after just 1 treatment, at least 3 Fraxel treatments are usually needed for optimal results. Four to five Fraxel treatments may be needed for patients with significant sun damage. Treatments are usually performed 4 weeks apart. This helps achieve results much faster than with non-ablative treatments.
How can I maintain my Fraxel results?
Since your skin will continue to age naturally, we recommend maintaining your results. This helps slow down aging and keeps your skin younger looking, longer. Maintenance can be achieved using physician-strength rejuvenation products at home and having annual Laser treatments like Fraxel, IPL Intense Pulse Light, or Thermage in our office. And of course, always wear your hat and sunscreen SPF 30 when outdoors.
How should I prepare for my Fraxel treatment?
Moisturize your skin twice daily for 2 weeks prior to treatment. At your consultation for Fraxel, we will discuss which products are best to use and which are best to avoid prior to your treatment. Wash your face very well and then apply our anesthetic cream (available at our office) 1 hour prior to Fraxel treatment. Apply the anesthetic cream generously and over all areas to be treated.
Are there any Fraxel risks or side effects?
With Fraxel, scabbing, blisters, and changes in skin color can occasionally occur. With Fraxel, scarring is extremely rare (less than 1%.)
Can Fraxel treatments be combined with other rejuvenation treatments?
Absolutely, Fraxel can be combined with IPL Intense Pulse Light to remove redness and dilated blood vessels, brown spots and tighten pores and skin. Fraxel can combine with Botox to relax deep wrinkles. Fraxel can combine with skin fillers like Restylane, Juvederm or Radiesse to smooth wrinkles and furrows and to plump lips.
